COLCA CANYON TREKKING ESCURSION
03:15 am 3:30 am We Pick passengers up from their hotels then we travel for 3hrs to Chivay the Principal town of the province to have an energetic breakfast, then we continue for about one hour on the left bank of the Colca River stright to the main lookout point known as (Cruz del Cóndor) to observe the largest flying bird in the world whose scientific name is (Vulture Gryphus) or simply Andean condor, then we continue to the second most important town of the Colca canyon, Cabanaconde the starting point for our 5hrs hours hike, (we will have time to prepare ourselves, put sun cream on, go to the toilet, etc.) then everybody should be ready to start the adventure. this day we descend about 1300meters using a winding path to get to one of the deepest parts of the canyon, during the hike it is possible to pick up some local fruits to refresh ourselves and of course with a great chance of observe the flight of the Condor over the mountains as well as some nests on the walls of the canyon, the path leads us to the Colca River and to a small town known as PALLCA exactly where llatica river tributs to the Colca river to continue its long journey to the pacific ocean, once In PALLCA time to enjoy a delicious lunch with some local products from the area, after that free afternoon to rest, relax the muscles in the thermal baths or explore the area interacting with the local people.
7:00 pm we have a nice dinner with our tour guide who is going to explain us about the culture, ethnic groups and traditions that are still alive in the Canyon, as well as we will know the program for the next day.

Today our breakfast will be served at 6:30am, then we continue with our adventure tour, todays hike takes around 6 to 7 hours to reach san Juan community, this tour begins crossing a hanging bridge to get to the small community called Turuña to see people making an arduous job leading the water from a very high mountain to their agricultural land to be able to grow a few varieties of vegetables, necessary for their subsistence, the trail takes on a zig zag uphill until a natural viewpoint named Apacheta (heaps of stones placed vertically, used by people of the Andes to mark the way) here, we take an stop to rest, rehydrate ourselves and eat some snacks after that we continue on a flat surface hiking over a beautiful pre-Inca amphitheater a singular place built by Pre-Inca people for agricultural purposes, a circular platform that has existed for about 1500 years.
Later on we get to cosñirhua community to take a good rest, drink water eat some snacks and taste local fruits. After that we hike into a deep crevice (one of the finger of the Colca Canyon) we descent for about 30 minutes then we go along a nice forest trail to get to San Juan community the place for us to enjoy a very traditional lunch and of course to rest
At 4:00 pm we do the last part of the trek, we have to hike for about 15 to 20 min more to get the family house where we will spend the night.
Once we get to the place use the time to relax and enjoy the scenery drinking a delicious Colca sour.
Today we have and earlier dinner around 6:30 pm since the day after we start very early in the morning to go back to the top of the canyon.
Every night before you go to sleep the tour guide will talk to you about the plans for the next day, the departure for tomorrow depends in how you a feeling. usualmente es entre 3- 3:30 am

3:30am begins our 4.5 – 5 hrs. uphill hike taking a mountain climber pace, in order to make good use of our energy and achieve our goal (the top of the canyon) we will arrive at Cabana Pueblo, good place for both enjoy our breakfast and rest, then we take our transport to return to Chivay on the way back we have a wonderful view of the thousands of pre Inca terraces in this beautiful valley, we stop at thermo-medicinal baths to relax and relieve the sore muscles, the temperature is between 38 C ° and 40 C ° the next place to stop is Chivay to enjoy the last lunch (a good place where very traditional food is served) after that great moment we return to Arequipa on the way back we stop at the Andes lookout point inside of the vicuña national reserve later on around 5:00 p.m. we arrive to Arequipa city center.
