Leaving Arequipa behind, our expedition immediately plunges into the soul of the Andes, traveling through a breathtaking, Andean scenery toward the Colca’s hidden gems.
later on, we arrive in Chivay, the principal town of the Colca region, to have a traditional breakfast including a coca tea.
30 – 40 min after, we continue our drive along the left bank of the Colca river to reach the cóndor’s lookout point. This is your premier opportunity to witness the spectacular flight of the Vultur Gryphus, the second world’s largest flying bird, as it soars above the dizzying depths of the canyon.

Get the bottom of the Canyon
We begin our approximately 5-hour descent ( meters) into one of the deepest sections of the Colca Canyon. This winding, ancient path offers unparalleled views and a high probability of spotting Condors flying below you or witnessing their nests tucked into the canyon walls, a truly unique vantage point.

Our descent concludes at the confluence of Huaruro and Colca rivers which guide us to the remote and peaceful Llahuar village.

We begin by crossing the bridge into Turuña, a community that offers a rare glimpse into Andean subsistence. This isn’t a museum it’s living history. Watch the farmers’ dedication as they maintain the vital irrigation channels, the same methods used for centuries to cultivate their sustenance: the corn, beans, and alfalfa that define life in the canyon. You are not just passing through; you are witnessing resilience.
The Spirit of the Trail
The gradual climb leads us to Apacheta, a significant Andean viewpoint. it’s a place steeped in tradition. Pause here to rehydrate and honor the mountain spirits, observing the vertical stone markers that have guided travelers for centuries. Feel the connection to those who walked this path long before you.
Pre-Inca Ingenuity
later on, prepare to encounter an archaeological site: named the Amphitheater. This 1,300−1,500-year-old Pre-Inca agricultural platform showcases the incredible engineering of ancient civilizations. It’s a nice reminder of the deep roots of culture into the canyon.
Arrival to the Destination
The final part of trail is a thrilling, scenic zigzag descent, a good visual reward before reaching the Oasis. After crossing the last suspension bridge, claim your cabin then, savor an authentic lunch.

The last ultimte adventure starts early at 4:00 or 4:30 am we do this final strategic climb adopting a mountainner!s pace to efficienly manage our energy and achieve our goal (the top of the canyon) this pre down ascent grants you the most dramatic perpective of the canyon as the sun begins to rise.
Breakfast and Ancestral Panorama
Triunfanly we arrive to Cabanaconde for a well deserved breakfast and a good rest, from here our transport begins the scenic return an uninterrupted, breathtaking panorama of the thousands of preinca agricultural terraces a powerful testament to ancient work that blankets the valley slopes.
Our journey back includes an stop at the hot springs perfectly raging from 37 C° to 40 C° to relieve your muscles after your Canyon exploration.
Farewell to the Andes
After a delicious Lunch our scenic return to Arequipa continues, we stop at Patapampa for a stunning photo of the Andean Mountain Range.
The last stop is within the National Reserve, to observe the graceful south American camelits in their natural habitad, this is a final moment of true Andean wildlife appreciation.
