At 7:00 am we pick up from your hotel, bus terminal or airport, the first place to visit is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Arequipa city, its name Carmen Alto, this place offers an spectacular view of Chilina Valley, Chili river, from here we get a wonderful view of the volcanoes Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu, after a moment we start our journey to the Stone Forest and Cave Paintings, we follow the road that goes to the cement factory name Yura also the way we pass near to Quiscos valley and after 2:00hrs of travel, we enter to Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, here we stop to enjoy a different and beautiful landscape over 4000 meters (13.200feet) to take pictures and learn a lot about the life and behavior of the South American camels (lamas, alpacas vicuñas and guanacos) the next stop is going to be at Puruña stone forest (a natural rock formations that were created thousands of years ago as a result of volcanic eruptions as well as the progressive erosion of water and wind) later on we continue to Patawasi the perfect place to enjoy a delicious Inca tea, which is going to help you to mitigate the altitude symptoms and maybe to buy some souvenirs made with baby alpaca wool, then we continue on the extensive hills of the highlands, where hundreds and hundreds of animals will be grazing in their natural inhabited, then we arrive at the most interesting point of this tour, the cave paintings located 91 km northwest of Arequipa city a bumpy route will take us to Sumbay the ghost town and then we take a short hike through a path formed by volcanic material and inside of a narrow canyon there they are, the cave paintings representing figures of South American camelids such as vicuñas, guanacos, plus figures of pumas, big Andean birds like ñandúes and also human figures with hunting scenes and domestication process this is a very charming place to visit, after enjoying the place and taking pictures, we have time to enjoy some snacks on one side of the Sumbay River with a nice views and the tranquility of the place.
Later on we take our way back to Arequipa using the same road arriving to the city center about 4pm.
