8:00 am we pick passengers up then travel for about one hour in a southeasterly direction towards the slopes of the Pichu píchu volcano, this tour gives us the possibility to know the two faces of Arequipa city the urbanized part and the countryside surrounded by a wonderful landscape, mountains and volcanoes of the Andes, terraces from pre Inca civilization, among other spots that you cannot miss it.
The hike begins at Espiritu Santo community, we follow a narrow path in the middle of a small eucalyptus forest this path is only used by farmers in that area to move themselves and open the small doors to let the water flow through their lands for a certain hours, since there is a high control over the use of water especially in the dry season, along this local path we have a wonderful view of the pre-Inca terraces, which today are still used for the native people, we can also learn a bit about the lifestyle of the local people and their daily activities in Livestock and agriculture, the view of the mountains from any part of our trail is simply amazing, after 2 hours of hiking we arrive to Cachamarca village to take an stop to rest and enjoy some snacks, taking pictures of this beautiful part of the countryside, here there is a natural viewpoint that offers a great panoramic view, this hike is considered no so hard and it is good to be more acclimate, it is available during all year round, after the rainy season the landscape becomes very green and unique.
Chiguata is a magical place and perfect for outdoor lovers, especially for the ones that love contact with nature in a peaceful and unique place. Once we go back to the main town we visit it’s beautiful colonial-style church with beautiful indigenous decorations, built with “sillar” (volcanic petrified gases) only if time permits we have the chance to have a traditional lunch in one of the local restaurants after we return to the Arequipa city. End the tour.
