On the island live very friendly people descendants of the Uros who were one of the oldest ethnic groups that inhabited the highlands, they will be very glad to show us how they have built their islands made with large blocks of the Totora roots that makes them float due to the porosity of the blocks aided by the gases that produce their decomposition, people have a very hard job joining the blocks and also placing a layer of Totora, the same that must be replaced every 20 days.
