Overview
The Colca Valley considered the first tourist destination in Arequipa
region, show us a dazzling nature, great living culture and delicious cuisine,
in this magical place you will be able to enjoy nature, experiential tourism
and adventure, it has a great diversity of flora and fauna, where the Andean
Condor stands out, the terraces in the colca valley represent one of the most
impressive landscapes on the continent, besides the enormous natural and
cultural heritage, clearly highlighting the survival of two fundamental Ethnic
groups Collaguas and Cabanas.
Most of our time we are thinking about people who is looking for outdoor
adventure, in general Peru offers wonderful opportunities to horseback ride
through the most beautiful scenery, one of our favorite places to ride friendly
horses is in the Valley of fire (colca valley) in Southern
Peru, it is the perfect place for a wide range of adventure activities.

day to 7 days of exiting horseback ride, everything will depends on your time
and experience.

ITINERARY
FIRST DAY
AREQUIPA -
NATIONAL RESERVE - YANQUE village - COLCA
VALLEY - CABANA NATION
Today
we leave early in the morning, we pick up our clients from their hotels in our private or shared
transportation according to your reservation request.

(Shared service group) between 3:00 am / 3:15
am.
We begin our 3hrs
journey towards the Colca Valley, following
a totally paved road and as soon as the sun rises, we will open our eyes to
wake up in a unique Andean landscape surrounded by volcanoes and imposing
mountains, observing through the window of the car several corrals with hundreds
of South American camelids probably still inside or maybe
about to go out in search of Andean grass, source of their food, later on we
get pass the highest point of the entire tour named Patapampa 4910
meters then we descent 1300 meters approx. to enter to the Colca valley and get to Chivay
town the place for us to have a traditional breakfast and after enjoying it, we
continue by car to our ranch to meet the Chalan and horses, but before we
departure we have time to prepare ourselves and get important instructions to
have a good performance during the horseback ride.
This exiting 5/6 hour excursion, consist on a
long ride through the Colca valley and will be led by the chalan and the
tour guide, the scenery is just amazing show us a great contrast of bright
colors, beautiful mountains, pre-Inca terraces, colonial churches, villages
among others, the trail takes us through different sectors up and down,
eminently terrain of a high Andean valley, around midday we will get to a very peaceful
village named Lari where we stop to rest, stretch our legs, and get our cold
lunch, 30 minutes later we continue riding
between the terraces, going up and down very close to the Colca River we
get cross it through a bridge to pass to the left side of the valley, and then
go uphill to enter into an area of the cabanas nation the place for us
to spend the night in a family homestay once we get here we will have free time
to rest, take a shower or walk in town, dinner will be served around 7:00pm
it is the perfect moment to have an interesting conversation with our tour
guide which will explain you about the culture, ethnic groups, traditions and
everything that is still preserved in the canyon as well as a briefing about
the agenda for the next day.

SECOND DAY
CABANA NATION
(Pinchollo) - CONDOR
CROSS LOOKOUT - CHIVAY - AREQUIPA
6:00am breakfast is served and
after that we do the last part of this beautiful 2 days horseback ride, we meet
the horses then we ride for about 2 hours until the famous lookout point named Condor
Cross in
this area we have a big chance to observe the fly of a
primitive bird considered as the king of the Andes (the Andean Condor the
second biggest flying bird in the world) which is usually seating on big rocks on the
cliffs of the canyon or just gliding. We are going to stay here for a while
enjoying the view of one of the deepest and most impressive canyons in the
world.
At
this place it is time to say thanks and good Bye to the Chalan and horses, they will go back home, and
we have to return to Chivay, doing some tourist stops along the way, to
visit a handicraft market, a colonial church, thermal baths to relax the
muscles etc. later on, we get to a very nice restaurant to have a traditional
buffet lunch, and after that we take our way back to Arequipa 3.5 hours later we will arrive to the city center.
