The Colca Valley considered the first tourist destination in Arequipa
region, show us a dazzling nature, great living culture and delicious cuisine,
in this magical place you will be able to enjoy nature, experiential tourism
and adventure, it has a great diversity of flora and fauna, where the Andean
Condor stands out, the terraces in the colca valley represent one of the most impressive
landscapes on the continent, besides the enormous natural and cultural
heritage, clearly highlighting the survival of two fundamental Ethnic groups
Collaguas and Cabanas.
Most of our time we are thinking about people who is looking for outdoor
adventure, in general Peru offers wonderful opportunities to horseback ride
through the most beautiful scenery, one of our favorite places to ride friendly
horses is in the Valley of fire (colca valley) in Southern
Peru, it is the perfect place for a wide range of adventure activities.
We offer excursions from half day to 7
days of exiting horseback ride, everything will depends on your time and
experience.

ITINERARY
FIRST DAY
AREQUIPA - NATIONAL RESERVE (Salinas Y Aguada Blanca) - MIRADOR DE LOS ANDES 4910M - CHIVAY TOWN
7:00am We pick you up from your
hotel, bus station or airport and then we begin our journey to the Colca
Valley following the road that goes to Yura cement factory, then we
pass near Quiscos valley and after 2:00hrs of travel we enter to Salinas
and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, we stop to take pictures and enjoy the
beauty of the landscape, we also learn about life and behavior of the South
American camels living in this part of the Andes over 4000m (13.200feet) (llamas, alpacas vicuñas and guanacos) we suggest you to drink
an Inca tea (hot herbal infusion including coca leaves) which is going to help
you mitigate the symptoms of altitude sickness, later on we continue to the
wetlands to observe more wildlife species such as birds, rabbits and maybe
Andean foxes later we get to the highest place of the entire route PATAPAMPA
a natural viewpoint, where we get a perfect panoramic view ofof the most active
volcano in Peru known as Sabancaya also Mismi volcano (origin of
the Amazon River) and Ampato volcano
very popular for having preserved the mummified body of the Inca
Princess Juanita, sacrificed during the Inca period.
After a long journey we arrive to Chivay town (3651m) the largest and the most
important of all Colca Canyon here we have plenty of time to enjoy a
wide variety of typical food, then transfer you to the village where your hotel
is, later on we go to the ranch to meet and learn all about horses that we will
be riding.
We will learn how to communicate with our mounts horsemanship techniques
similar to those used by the famous horse whisperer and you will practice with
the horses, this day we have our first ride in the afternoon and after if the
time permits we visit the hot spring then we go to enjoy a traditional dinner
and we talk about the agenda for the next day with our tour guide.

SECOND DAY
YANQUE -
ICHUPAMPA - LARI - PINCHOLLO
7:00 am we have breakfast at the hotel then we go to the ranch to start this exiting 5/6 hours ride, today we go on a long ride through the Colca valley on our friendly horses as well as the Chalan and the tour guide we enjoy the scenery of the valley of fire (colca) its spectacular chila volcanic range and its beautiful mountains, pre-Inca terraces, colonial churches, pre Incas ruins, the Atun mayu (colca river) villages Ichupampa and Lari among others, all this on the right bank of the river the path takes us through different sectors up and down, eminently terrain of a high Andean valley, at around midday we get to a peaceful village named Lari where we stop to rest, stretch the legs, and get our snack - box lunch 25 - 30 minutes later we continue riding between the terraces, going down very close to the Colca River we get cross it through a bridge to pass to the left side of the valley, then we ride uphill up to the area of cabana nation where we spend the night in a family homestay surrounded for a beautiful green area and huge mountains, dinner will be served around 7:00pm it is the perfect moment to have an interesting conversation with our tour guide which will explain you about the culture, ethnic groups, customs, traditions and everything that is still preserved in the canyon as well as a briefing about the agenda for the next day.

THIRD
DAY
CABANA NATION (Pinchollo) - CONDOR CROSS LOOKOUT - CHIVAY - AREQUIPA
7:00am breakfast is served and
after that we do the last part of this beautiful ride, we pick the horses up,
then we go for 2
hours to
the principal lookout point named Condor Cross (3600m), at this place we
appreciate and observe the fly of king of the Andes, the Condor which sometimes is seating
on the big rocks on the cliffs, we will be here for more than an hour looking the
second biggest flying bird in the world, also it is possible to
see many villages at the deep part of the Colca canyon.
At this place it is time to say Thanks and good Bye to the Chalan and horses, they will go back home,
then we have to return to Chivay, doing some tourist stops along the
way, to visit a handicraft market, a local church, thermal baths to relax the
muscles etc. later on, we have lunch in Chivay town, after that we take
our way back to Arequipa 3 – 3.5 hours later we will arrive to your hotel in Arequipa city.
