At 6:00 am we departure for our 2 Days COLCA CANYON TOUR FROM PUNO CITY
We pick you up from your hotel in Puno to take you scenic journey through the highlands doing stops along the route to learn about culture and historical places.
The first stop is at the archaeological site Sillustani, one of the largest necropolises in the world surrounded by a landscape of stunning beauty.
The archaeological complex stands out for its gigantic “chullpas” (species of stone towers), built by Collas and Incas to bury their dead. They are like chess towers resisting the passage of time.
Then we continue to Lagunillas, a lake in the Andes at about 4,250 m (13,900 ft). It is part of the system drained by the Coata River, which flows in an easterly direction into Lake Titicaca.
Lagunillas is home of abundant fauna, you will be able to observe Andean flamingos, cuts, ibis, geese and Andean gulls also other animal species.
Enjoy this unique scenery, see how local people work in their rainbow trout farms using artisanal boats.
Later on, we get to the Stone Forest that has been eroded over millions of years due to different climatic factors creating natural formations. Then we enter to Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, to take pictures and learn about the behavior of the South American camels also we stop to enjoy a delicious lunch, later on, we continue going gradually higher to visit the Painting Caves, Let’s take a walk through nice rock formations with a narrow rocky canyon until we reach the cave, this rupestrian rock arts, shows the most significant representation of these first men (hunting scenes, taming scenes and a great number of animal in different attitudes such as Vicuñas, Guanacos, Pumas, Ñandu, Also figures of humans and rare figures painted on the walls).
Later on, we reach the highest viewpoint of the entire excursion where we will see the most popular volcanos from Arequipa region.
30 minutes later we will arrive to Chivay town we can continue to the thermal bath or go to the hotel to take a rest.
7:00 pm time for dinner in a traditional restaurant with folkloric music and some local dances.

6:00 am breakfast and then we continue our journey following the left bank of the Colca river where the countless fields (pre inca terraces) full of crops, such as corn, potatos, quinoa, amaranth and abundant vegetation make this landscape very beautiful, one hour after we get to the lookout point named Condor Cross, to observe the largest flying bird in the world, whose scientific name is (Vulture Gryphus) or simply Andean Condor here we get the best pictures of the impressive mountains as well as the rocky walls and depth of this unique Canyon with beautiful green remote villages located in its interior part.
Then at the indicated hour we visit the Gayser of Hualca Hualca volcano situated 9km far from the main route, once we get at the place we take a short walk to get very close to the Gayser, take pictures and admire how powerful nature can be, enjoy some local fruit and snack in this particular place, then we have to return to the main route to continue doing some stops in places of great tourist interest, like a village with its colonial church and handicraft market, etc. After we go for lunch in Chivay town.
later on, it is time to departure to Arequipa, 3 hours later we will be back in Arequipa city arriving approximately 4:30 – 5:00 pm
