5:00 AM – Private Pick-Up in Arequipa
Begin your journey before sunrise. We pick you up directly from your hotel in Arequipa and head out in our private 4WD vehicle, leaving the city behind and descending into the vast Arequipean desert.
Early departure, maximum adventure. We trade sleep for soul: beating the crowds and chasing the perfect light to ensure you will experience a deeper, silent connection with the ancient landscapes
We enjoy breakfast in the town Pedregal or Corire, offering a taste of local life and regional flavors, simple, authentic, and energizing for the adventure ahead.
After approximately 3 hours of scenic driving, we reach the Majes Valley (600 m / 1,968 ft). Our first tourist visit is the legendary Toro Muerto Petroglyphs, hidden in the heart of the desert and surrounded by the dramatic stone walls of the Majes Canyon.
Here, you’ll explore hundreds of volcanic rock carvings, etched over 1,200 years ago. Human figures, animals, and symbolic designs reveal the worldview of ancient Peruvian civilizations.
You will have plenty of time to walk, observe, photograph, and truly absorb this sacred archaeological site.
Next, we head to Querulpa, a remote paleontological site often called the “Jurassic Park of Arequipa.”
A short 10-minute walk takes us up a rocky hill, where you will discover fossilized dinosaur footprints embedded in sandy slopes. According to paleontological studies, dinosaurs lived here 100 to 150 million years ago.
Standing on this ancient ground is a powerful reminder of how deep time shapes the Andes.
We continue driving through arid landscapes that slowly transform as we ascend to Chuquibamba (3,000 m / 9,843 ft).
This lush valley is a striking contrast to the desert. Here, we stop for a late lunch around, surrounded by greenery and mountain air.
After lunch, we drive uphill to the upper zone of the village, where the southern face of Mount Coropuna comes into view.
This moment is unforgettable, stop to take pictures and enjoy the surroundings. Coropuna is the highest volcano in Peru and a sacred mountain deeply respected by Andean cultures.
By evening, we reach our first base camp near Pallarcocha Lagoon, a remote high-altitude setting beneath the massive presence of Coropuna.
We settle in, enjoy dinner, and rest under the Andean sky, far from cities, noise, and mass tourism.

The day begins with a mountain breakfast at Pallarcocha Base Camp, surrounded by high-Andean silence and glacial landscapes. This slow start is intentional, allowing your body to continue adapting to the altitude.
Proper acclimatization is essential for a safe and successful ascent.
After breakfast, we enjoy free time dedicated to acclimatization. You will hike around the Lagoon, following the volcanic terrain to stimulate altitude adaptation without physical overload.
This hike offers stunning reflections of the surrounding peaks, pristine air, and a deep sense of isolation, perfect for travelers seeking raw, authentic mountain experiences.
You move at your own pace. No rush. No pressure.
At the scheduled time, we return to base camp for lunch. Afterward, we continue by car to the next strategic Coropuna base camp 2.
This transition marks a clear shift from exploration to expedition mode.
In high-altitude mountaineering, flexibility is safety. We analyze two variables your physical feedback and wind velocity, to select our camping area for the 2nd night:
Option 1: semi – Protected High Base Camp – 5,107 m / 16,853 ft
This camp is located in a naturally sheltered area, offering protection from strong winds.
It is the preferred option when weather conditions are unstable
Ideal for maintaining comfort and energy reserves.
Option 2: Advanced High Base Camp – 5,200 m / 17,160 ft
This is an open and more exposed location, closer to the upper slopes of Coropuna.
If weather conditions are calm and you are feeling strong, this camp gives us a strategic advantage for the following day’s ascent.
Safety and performance always come first.
Once the tents are set up, the mountain belongs to you. This free afternoon is for “Mountain Connection” a time to photograph the jagged silhouette Solimana Mount or simply rest.
As the temperature drops, we share a hot dinner enjoy watching the most authentic sunset of your life.

The day begins at 8:00 AM with a purpose-filled breakfast. This isn’t just a meal; it’s the fuel for the path ahead. Together, we meticulously pack our gear, ensuring every piece of equipment is ready. As we close the doors of our 4WD vehicle, we leave the last trace of the motorized world behind. From here on, it is just your breath, your boots, and the raw earth beneath you.
For the next 3 to 4 hours, we navigate a trail that demands respect but rewards persistence. The gradient is a steady, medium-difficulty climb. This allows you to find a “rhythmic flow”
Enjoy the breathtaking silhouette of Solimana Volcano rises like a jagged crown. Rarely visited and deeply sacred, it stands as your silent witness. There are no crowds here, no noise only the immense, golden silence of the volcanic range.

As we reach the Advanced Base Camp at 5,400 meters, the air is thin but the spirit is high. While our professional team handles the logistics and set up the tents, you are served a warm, nourishing lunch. specifically designed for high-altitude recovery.
The afternoon is yours to claim. Feel free to walk around the camp, observe the massive glaciers of Coropuna above, and let your body adapt to the altitude. This quiet time is the “secret ingredient” to a successful summit; it is where physical adaptation meets mental preparation.
As the sun dips below the horizon and the temperature drops, we gather for a final communal dinner. We share stories and laughter before retreating to our tents. Above us, the Andean sky unveils its true glory, a canopy of stars so bright and clear they seem close enough to touch. Rest well; the summit is calling.
The expedition awakens in the deep stillness of the Andean night. A hot, high-energy breakfast is served, fuel for the soul as much as the body. This is the moment where preparation ends and action begins. Technical gear is checked one last time in silence; there is no need for words, only focus. We step out of the tents and into the cold, leaving the safety of camp for the vastness of the southeast face.
For the next five hours, your world is reduced to the golden circle of light from your headlamp and the rhythmic sound of crampons biting into the snow.
We follow the most direct line toward the highest summit of the Coropuna massif.
Depending on the season, the mountain tests your resolve. You may navigate around some crevasses or weave through penitentes, towering, blade-like ice formations that stand like frozen sentinels guarding the peak. Every breath is deliberate; every step is a victory of will over exhaustion.
As dawn breaks, the world transforms. The first rays of sunlight flood the horizon, painting the surrounding peaks in hues of gold and violet. This is a moment of pure scale, a reminder of the immense beauty of the Andes. Re-energized by the light, we push through the final hours of the climb.

After approximately 7 hours of sustained effort, the terrain levels out. You have reached the summit of Coropuna (6,425 m / 21,079 ft). Time at the top is sacred. Standing upon the highest volcano in Peru, you take a brief but powerful moment to honor the effort, absorb the infinite landscape, and capture the memories of a lifetime. You are no longer a visitor; you are part of the mountain’s history.

The descent is the final test of character, the most physically demanding phase of the expedition. Guided by the lead’s instructions, we focus every ounce of remaining energy on a safe, 4-hour return to the high camp.
After a brief rest, we pack the remaining gear and descend for 1.5 – 2 more hours to the 5,200m mark where Our private 4WD vehicle awaits, ready to begin the 7-hour journey back to civilization. We return to Arequipa by evening, dropping you off at your hotel, tired, but forever changed by the authentic spirit of the high Andes.
