The Colca Canyon is located about 160 km (99 mi) northwest of Arequipa. With a depth of about (4160 meters 13728feet) it is one of the deepest canyons in the world. Its length is about 70 km (43 mi) before the Canyon there is a colorful Andean valley with pre-Inca rooted inhabitants, and towns founded in Spanish colonial times, still inhabited by descendants of Collagua and Cabana cultures. The local people maintain their ancestral traditions and continue to cultivate the pre-Inca stepped terraces, called andenes.

Main town of the province of Caylloma and place where we will take a local andean breakfast, then we continue our journey following the left bank of the Colca river where the countless fields full of crops, such as corn, amaranth, kiwicha, potato, quinoa and abundant vegetation make this landscape incredibly beautiful, 1 hour later we arrive to the Condor cross viewpoint, to observe the largest flying bird in the world, whose scientific name is (Vulture Gryphus) or simply Andean condor and also you will get the best pictures of the impressive mountains as well as the walls and depth of this canyon, take a look at the remote villages located in its interior. later on at the indicated time we must return doing stops in places of great tourist interest, like the viewpoint of Choquetico and its carved rock a petroglyph with many details reservoirs of water, channels and platforms, a model that these experts in hydraulic engineering (former settlers Collagua) used as a model to build the terraces that we have today, also stop to observe the famous hanging tombs, which jealously house the ancestors of these settlers. On the way we visit the colonial church at Maca village and its handicraft market, to buy clothes made with alpaca fiber or some other souvenir made by the local people, then we go to the thermo medicinal baths with temperatures between 39ºC to 41ºC and enjoy the outdoor pools in this unique landscape, which only the Colca Canyon can offer, then we have a buffet lunch with a wide variety of traditional dishes at a local restaurant 1 hour later it is time to continue with our program we stop at the look out point of the volcanoes to observe part of the Andean volcanic range as well as at Salinas and Aguada Blanca national reserve to see the vicuñas grazing in the mountains above 4000m after that we go bak to the city arriving approximately 5:00 pm.
TO DRINK COCA TEA DURING THE DAY HELPS TO REDUCE THE EFFECT OF ALTITUDE (avoid drinking it before going to sleep, BECAUSE it could be like a stimulant and you will not be able to sleep well
